Telephone Banking/TelPay
Would you like to pay your bills over the phone through your bank? We offer a Telephone Banking/TelPay option. It is an easy way to pay your electricity bill. All you need is your 16 digit account number (printed in the gold boxes on your electricity bill) when registering. Check with your bank for details.
Pre-Authorized Payment
The Pre-Authorized Payment Plan is an easy way to make Maritime Electric payment each month.
Our Pre-Authorized Payment Plan allows you to pay your monthly bill quickly and conveniently. In fact, it's the easiest way to pay your bill. Automatic payment assures your payment arrives on time - every time - with no cheque writing, no mailing, no stamps and no service charge! We will continue to send your monthly bill which will indicate when the amount owing will automatically be withdrawn from your bank account.

Equalized Payment Plan Option
Would you like to pay the same amount every month? We offer an Equalized Payment Plan option. You can have the same amount debited from your account eleven (11) months out of the year, while the twelfth (or the anniversary month) is the adjustment month.
Want to know more about your Equalized Payment Plan Option?
- Who is eligible? All Maritime Electric year-round customers.
- How does the Plan work? The monthly amount is based on one-twelfth of the previous twelve months consumption and the estimated average rates for the ensuing year. This is the amount you pay each month for eleven months.
- New Customer Payment Amount - If a record of the preceding twelve months is not available, a mutually acceptable monthly amount may be agreed upon by the Company and the customer.
- Anniversary Month - In the anniversary month, any outstanding balance will be due and payable. Any credit balance may be applied to future bills.
- Due Date Payments - Under the Equalized Payment Plan, payment must be made on or before the 5th of each month. Pre-authorized payments come out on the due date.
- Prior Outstanding Account Balances - To qualify for the Equalized Payment Plan, all prior account balances must be paid in full.
- Late Payment of Equalized Amounts - Late payments are subject to the Company's normal procedures regarding penalties and collection.
- Cancellation for Non-Payment by the Company - The Equalized Payment Plan may be cancelled by the Company if the account is not paid regularly each month.
- Billing Procedures - Monthly bills are issued as usual showing the consumption and charges for the current period. The bill will show the accumulated credits and/or debits as well as the equalized amount for you to pay. Payments may be made by pre-authorized payments, direct debit, postdated cheques or monthly cash.
- Fluctuation/Change in Energy Use - Fluctuation in energy use or change of heart source may result in revised Equalized Payment amount.

Make an online payment through Paymentus
Would you like to pay your bills by Visa or MasterCard over the phone or the internet? We offer an online payment service which is powered through Paymentus. When you pay online, we receive instant updates of your payment and your account will be updated on the next business day.
A Payment fee of $5.95 is payable to Paymentus for your first $250 payment. Additional charges of $5.95 apply for each $250 increment when you pay your electrical bills using this service.
