Maritime Electric is a wholly
owned subsidiary of Fortis Inc., St. John's Newfoundland. Our mandate is to provide the most reliable energy at the lowest possible cost while maintaining a high level of customer service.

COMPANY PROFILE
Maritime Electric provides service to approximately 66,000 customers throughout Prince Edward Island and maintains offices in Charlottetown and Summerside.

The Company owns and operates a fully integrated system providing for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity throughout the Island and maintains generating plants in Charlottetown and Borden. Maritime Electric's energy delivery system is linked to the NB Power grid via two submarine cables. These cables enable the Company to purchase energy from the mainland under various contracts.


Maritime Electric and its employees are committed to protecting the environment. The Company's operations are carried out with a view to protect the environment and comply with or exceed all applicable environmental regulations.


Maritime Electric operates under the provisions of Maritime Electric Company Limited Regulation Act. The Company was incorporated in 1917 and established on Prince Edward Island in 1918.
