POWER
RESTORATION CRISIS CENTRE
Maritime
Electric has established a Power Restoration Crisis Centre to better manage
the restoration of power during a major power outage. In the Power
Restoration Crisis Centre, operators accept information taken from
customer calls and record it using the Management Outage Restoration
Environment computer software. This process helps Maritime Electric
identify the location of a problem which in turn provides more efficient
restoration of power.
Unscheduled Outages
Do you know what to do if your power goes out unexpectedly?
Maritime Electric needs your assistance when reporting a power outage. Please help
us provide better service by having the answers to the following questions before
you call:
- Are your neighbours without power?
Check with your neighbours to see if they have power.
- Did you hear any loud noises or see sparks coming from Maritime Electric equipment?
This may help our crews to identify the problem quickly. When a fuse blows at the transformer, it
usually results in a loud report.
- Have you checked your breakers or fuses?
If the problem seems to be only in your home, please check your main breaker/fuse. Sometimes breakers will trip for no apparent reason. Turn the breaker firmly off, then firmly to the on position. If this fails to restore your power, please check with us.
- Is the power off in part of your home?
Please check your breakers first, and then call.
- Are your lights going bright and/or dim?
Turn off your main breaker and call us immediately.
- Are there downed wires or poles nearby?
Check for downed wires or poles but please remember to remain clear of these as they
can be very dangerous.
Keep the account number from your Maritime Electric bill handy.
