Maritime Electric in the Community

At Maritime Electric we are very proud of the communities we serve. We are a proud community partner donating, sponsoring and partnering in hundreds of organizations, events and causes each year in Prince Edward Island.

Community investment pillars

Education – Projects, organizations or institutions, particularly those focused on STEAM subjects and women in trades.
Health – Projects or organizations that contribute to improving the health of Islanders.
Sport – Projects or organizations that promote active living, individual sports teams or tournaments.

Donation request

If you’d like to submit a Request for Donation, please submit an Online Donation Request form. You can also drop your donation request letter off in person to our main office located at 180 Kent Street. We will respond to your request within eight weeks of receipt.

In our community

4-H PEI

4-H PEI is a community-based youth organization which provides opportunities for leadership and life skill development all while promoting agriculture awareness. 4-H is one of PEI's longest running youth organizations for people aged 9 to 21.

Always on Stage

Always on stage offers performance opportunities, mentoring and employment to emerging musicians in Charlottetown during the summer months.

Blooming House

Blooming House's mission is to create a safe environment for women to navigate their way out of homelessness. Blooming House uses a person-centered approach, offering a judgement free zone for women facing obstacles that are preventing them from living their best lives. Blooming House operates almost entirely on donations and fundraising events.

Canadian Mental Health Association, PEI Division

We're proud to support the Canadian Mental Health Association, PEI Division and their mission to facilitate access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health. 

The Canadian Potato Museum

The museum hosts a dynamic display of the potato industry, including historical machinery, and has the largest collection of potato artifacts worldwide. The museum hosts over 13,000 visitors every year.

Canadian Red Cross

The Canadian Red Cross offers an extensive network of programs and services that actively reach out and serve communities throughout Prince Edward Island.

Chief Mary Bernard Women’s Shelter

The Chief Mary Bernard Women’s Shelter is a shelter for women in distress, women without housing, or for young mothers who need extra support. The Shelter provides a safe place for both aboriginal and non-aboriginal women and their children who are experiencing family violence, while giving residents access to employment services, parenting and life skills programs.

Christmas Daddies

Christmas Daddies is a not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to help less fortunate children in the Maritime provinces have a better Christmas. A Maritime tradition since 1964, the telethon is a pledge-based variety show broadcast live.

CNIB Foundation

The CNIB Foundation is a non-profit organization who deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy to empower people impacted by blindness and tear down barriers to inclusion.

Confederation Centre of the Arts Choral Music Program

The Centre’s adult choir, the Confederation Singers and the Confederation Centre Youth Chorus provide both musical training and performance opportunities for music minded Islanders.

Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel​​

Maritime Electric is a proud to be a supporter of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel's Summer Concert Series, showcasing the musical talents of Island artists. ​

East Coast Music Awards

Maritime Electric was a proud volunteer sponsor for the 2019 ECMAs in Charlottetown, PEI.

Easter Seals PEI

Easter Seals PEI works towards enhancing the quality of life, self-esteem and self-determination of Islanders with disabilities. Not only does Easter Seals PEI raise much needed funds to support their mission, they also support services, public and consumer education, research and increased awareness of disability issues in the private, volunteer and government sectors.

Eastern Kings Hospital Foundation

The Eastern Kings Hospital Foundation funds medical equipment and resources to support the Souris Hospital, Colville Manor and programs such as mental health and addictions.

Environmental Coalition of PEI​

We were proud to support the Festival of Forests fundraising event, which included educational walking tours of MacPhail Woods, workshops, arts and crafts and more in support of the work in progress by ECOPEI.

Fédération culturelle de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard 

The mission of the Fédération culturelle de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard is to ensure and continuously maintain the cultural and artistic evolution of the Acadian and Francophone community of Prince Edward Island.

Festival of Small Halls

Held in June throughout the entire province, the Festival of Small Halls brings exceptional shows to treasured places many Islanders have not yet discovered. With more than 50 performances through 14 days in June in 45 rural community halls, the Festival of Small Halls is a critically acclaimed traditional music and dance festival that has toes tapping across the Island.

Glenaladale Heritage Trust

The Glenaladale Heritage Trust are working to preserve the historical significance of Glenaladale Estate. The property will become a space for special events, children’s camps, an applied research centre, and a Scottish family history centre.

Gold Cup Parade

We're a proud supporter of the annual Gold Cup Parade, sponsoring the Children’s Entertainment Float for over 15 years.

Harmony House Theatre

Harmony House is a family owned business located in Hunter River, PEI. Year-round, the theatre provides high-quality musical performances and entertainment, primarily by Island artists and musicians. Harmony House Theatre was the 2014 ECMA Venue of the Year and 2010 Music PEI's Venue of the Year.

Harvest House

Harvest House Prince Edward Island's mission is to offer a variety of skills training and education programs for Islanders struggling with addictions and other lifestyle issues. Harvest House is one of the original partners of the national Coldest Night of the Year walk, which raises funds for charities just like Harvest House.

Hospice PEI

We’re proud to support Hospice PEI and their mission of making every day count for Islanders and their families through their volunteer-led support, comfort, and care programs.

Indian River Festival

An annual destination event for locals and tourists, the Indian River Festival has been bringing the very best of classical, traditional, folk, jazz and world music to the historic St. Mary’s Church for over 24 years.

Island Nature Trust

The Island Nature Trust's Piping Plover Conservation Program works to protect piping plover on their nesting grounds in PEI and provide information to beach goers during the summer months.

IWK Foundation

The 37th Annual IWK Telethon took place on June 6, 2021. The IWK Foundation raises much needed funds to ensure all priority care needs are met and that patients have access to the latest medical equipment. This year, the telethon raised an astounding $6.6 million!­

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement is an international non-profit organization dedicated to teaching young people the principles of business and has been promoting business education in our province since 1985. Upwards of 5,700 students enroll in JA programs in schools across the Island each year.

KidSport PEI

KidSport PEI is non-profit organization working to remove financial barriers that limit some children from participating in sports, ensuring all children in PEI have equal opportunity to experience the benefits sports offer.

Luminos Ensemble

We are proud to support the Luminos Ensemble, a Charlottetown-based professional choir of trained vocal soloists who are passionate about small ensemble performance.

Make-A-Wish Canada, PEI

Wishes can transform the lives of children, their families, volunteers and supporters and we’re proud to support Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada, PEI Chapter! Our donation will go toward granting wishes to Island children, ages of 3-17, living with critical illnesses.

Nature Conservancy of Canada

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has been working on Prince Edward Island since 1978. Since that time, they have helped protect close to 2,400 hectares (5,800 acres) of some of the most ecologically significant parts of the Island.

The Prince Edward Island 55 Plus Games Society Inc. is a community based volunteer and not-for-profit organization. The 55+ Games Society's motto is 'stay active.'

PEI Association of Newcomers

The PEI Association of Newcomers offers a variety of services including settlement assistance, language testing, employment services, youth-specific programs, and more!

PEI Boys & Girls Clubs

The Boys & Girls Clubs across the Island provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.

PEI Family Violence Prevention Services works towards ending family violence and empowering those affected by it.

PEI Symphony Orchestra

Ringette PEI

Ringette PEI is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of ringette across the province.

Ronald McDonald House Charities 'PJ Walk for Love'

Ronald McDonald House helps families with sick children stay together and near the medical care they need. In 2020, Ronald McDonald House helped serve more than 2,200 families from across the Maritimes.

Santa's Angels

Santa's Angels is a 100% volunteer-based group that hopes to reach those who, for one reason or another, are not able to provide Christmas gifts and food for their children. Santa and the elves bring food, toys, and gifts on each visit, and each package is customized based upon the needs of the individual or family.

Souris Show Hall

The Souris Show Hall is the oldest continuously operating theatre on Prince Edward Island!

Special Olympics PEI

Special Olympics PEI is dedicated to enriching the lives of Islanders with an intellectual disability through sport. In 2019, Maritime Electric was inducted into the Special Olympics PEI Enriching Lives Gala Hall of Fame for the Company's longtime support of the organization.

St. Peter's Wild Blueberry Festival

Each year the village of St. Peter’s Bay holds its annual blueberry festival – a week filled with events and community spirit.

Stars for Life Foundation for Autism

Stars for Life is committed to creating a quality of life for young people with autism spectrum disorder, fully included in their community; with a commitment to continued education, life and job skills training and inclusion.

STEAM PEI

STEAM PEI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire young Islanders to pursue learning and careers in science, technology, engineering, art and math fields by fostering their curiosity and confidence through experiential learning opportunities.

Team PEI

Since 1967, Islanders have been representing Team PEI at the Canada Games. These multi-sport games which take place every second year toggling between summer and winter sports have been hosted in all ten provinces and the Yukon territory.  Since then, over 6,000 Islanders has participated in the games. 

The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry helps to meet the needs of Islanders experiencing food insecurity. The Upper Room operate both a food bank and soup kitchen in Charlottetown, as well as organize the delivery of food to other food banks in PEI.

Tignish Irish Moss Festival

The Irish Moss Festival was aptly named to recognize the important industry that occurs mostly in the western region of PEI.

Town of Souris Special Events

We are proud to support special events in the Town of Souris! Our donation is towards supporting the annual Mermaid Tears Seaglass Festival and Christmas Festival.

United Way of PEI

The United Way of Prince Edward Island is committed to the advancement of our Island community. Their mandate is to bring resources together to support local non-profit organizations, help them fund local projects, work with them to build sector strength, while collaborating with local leaders and stakeholders to address the pressing needs of Islanders. Maritime Electric also supports the United Way through an annual employee giving campaign.

Watermark Theatre

Located in North Rustico, PEI, Watermark Theatre strives to produce the finest professional theatre on the Island.

Wellington Fire Department Open House

We proudly supported the Wellington Fire Department’s Open House, which takes place during Fire Prevention Week. Pictured are photos of the demonstrations on smoke behaviour, kitchen grease fires and the proper use of fire extinguishers.

West Prince Red Clay Bluegrass Festival

Maritime Electric is a proud to be a supporter of this weekend-long event, bringing Islanders together through music and entertainment.

Wild Threads Literary Festival (PEI Writer's Guild)

We were proud to support the PEI Writer’s Guild Wild Threads Literary Festival, a four-day creative literary event in downtown Charlottetown. Pictured are several of the workshops from the festival.

Women's Network PEI

We were proud to support the Women’s Network PEI’s sixth Annual Fundraiser Matinee Evening. The event featured performances from six talented Island women and non-binary artists.

Young at Heart Musical Theatre

We are proud to support the Young at Heart Musical Theatre, a non-profit organization that provides professional musical theatre productions for senior-citizens in long term care and retirement facilities.

COVID-19 Community Support Program

Maritime Electric donated to 20 Island organizations in 2020 that provided various support to Islanders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Tourism Industry Association of PEI, Hospice PEI, the Paramedics Association of PEI, PEI Food Banks, various community shelters and more.
