T&D Utility Planner (Two Positions, 12-Month Temporary)
Maritime Electric Company, Limited are seeking interested candidates for the following position: T&D Utility Planner (Two Temporary 12-month Positions Available)
These temporary positions will be based in Charlottetown from Maritime Electric’s West Royalty Service Centre location at 3 Fourth Street in the West Royalty Industrial Park. The work area for these positions is Island wide. Reporting to the Supervisor, Contractor Services, the T&D Utility Planner provides support to Engineering, Line Operations, and Operations Support.
The successful candidates will have graduated from an academic Grade 12 program and possess a diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in construction technology, electrical technology, or a related field, equivalent utility experience. Construction technology, utility/telco experience, or survey experience would be desirable. Possess a valid Class 5A driver license and satisfactory driving record.
Candidates must have the following skills and knowledge, but not limited to:
- Providing excellent customer service.
- A good understanding of and the ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment; respectful of confidentiality; telephone etiquette skills; good communication, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to project a professional company image through customer, contractors, and colleague interactions.
- Shall have demonstrated sound working knowledge of and aptitude for using computers and applications.
- Working knowledge of GPS, GIS, and Mapping Systems.
- Working knowledge of joint-use agreements, third party attachment agreements, and easements.
- A good working knowledge of utility constructions standards.
- Ability to apply job task planning, prioritizing and organizational skills in the position’s daily requirements.
Duties and responsibilities of these positions include, but are not limited, to performing field utility planning, preparing construction work packages, confirming and conducting field and data verification for asset management, and following all current regulations of field work.
The T&D Utility Planner roles work in all weather conditions. The pay range for this temporary position is between $32.93 - $37.28 (90% of the full rate of $36.59 – $41.42) per hour.
